1 Overview
This programme aims at consolidating participants' knowledge of grammar and vocabulary; and enhancing their ability to write structured and reader-centred business correspondence of different types with an appropriate tone and style.
Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to employ a wider vocabulary to construct messages on different levels of complexity, and produce clear and correct writings to achieve a variety of purposes at work.

3 Module
369102 Practical Reading & Writing Skills
This course is designed for those who have some knowledge of English grammar, and wish to improve their writing skills. It includes a review of good sentence writing and paragraph writing skills. Particular attention will be paid to sentence cohesion, logical development and flow of ideas.
359102 English Grammar
This course is designed for participants who wish to go beyond basic grammar. It will provide a review of the eight parts of speech in the Basic English Grammar course followed by a more thorough study of other major aspects of grammar.
The topics include:
1) Punctuation
2) Tenses (with a focus on past actions)
3) Gerunds
4) Infinitives
5) Direct & indirect questions
6) Active & Passive voices
7) Relative & participial phrases/clauses
8) Adjective & adverb phrases/clauses
9) Comparatives & superlatives
10) Collective nouns
11) Conditionals and phrasal verbs
389105 Business Correspondence Writing Workshop
Participants will be given different types of business correspondence for discussion and analysis. They will be required to produce correspondence for peers' and instructors' editing and comments. Through self and peer evaluation of written work, and the instructor's guidance, participants will develop clear, concise, and correct business correspondence writing skills with appropriate uses of tone and style.

This course will provide participants with an opportunity to analyze and review common grammatical errors found in Hong Kong business writings. An overview of common types of business correspondence and personal business communication will be covered. 5 Duration
Normally students will take 1 to 2 module(s) in each School Term* in order to complete the whole Certificate programme within 1 year.
On the other hand, you may also plan your own study pace as long as you can complete the entire programme within 2 years (starting from the commencement date of the first module you studied).

6 Award
To qualify for the award of Certificate in English Writing Skills for the Workplace, students are required to:
(1) have an attendance rate of 70% or above in each module; and
(2) have passed the assessments of each module.

All applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
(a) For new applicants:
(1) Apply for the certificate programme:
- Fill in the “Enrollment Form for Certificate and Diploma / Professional Proogrammes”
- Indicate your payment method for the application fee $150 in Part B (non-refundable)
(2) Choose one or two module(s) to study in the first term:
- Fill in another “Enrollment Form for Certificate and Diploma / Professional Proogrammes,” with your name and the module information only.
For example, you would like to study “English Grammar,”
- Indicate your payment method for the tuition fee of this module in Part B
- Use a separate form for each module.
(3) Send the above forms with your supporting documents for admissions requirements to:

The school will notify the applicants of the results by mail.
