1 Overview
This programme aims at equipping participants with business communication skills; enhancing their ability to deliver clear and structured messages with an appropriate tone; and building their confidence in speaking through improved accuracy.
Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to handle a wide range of work scenarios, and improve their use of language for various practical functions at work. With focused training, their pronunciation and accuracy will be enhanced for better communication.

3 Module
379104 English Phonetics
Phonetics is the foundation for training English speaking skills. This course starts from IPA, monosyllabic and poly-syllabic, it provides training for participants to learn how to articulate sounds correctly. Upon completion of the course, students can speak correctly.
379105 Pronouncing English Accurately
This course aims at improving participants' English pronunciation. It includes the following topics: how the speech organs work in English; consonants, vowels and diphthongs; syllable word and sentence stress; rhythm, intonation and enunciation. The course will also practise on identifying and highlighting the most important words in any given situation so as to express what we want we want to say clearly. Paired and small group activities will be considered. The focus will be on correcting pronunciation and enhancing an uninhibited expression.
379102 Improving Listening and Speaking Skills
Participants will be required to listen to exercise on various topics related to daily life, or current affairs. Speaking skills will be improved through pair up work, group discussion and interactive activities that are built on the listening topics.
389112 Practical Spoken English for the Office
This course aims at helping participants to build confidence in using English in the office by developing essential skills such as greeting and entertaining visitors, screening calls or callers, leaving or taking messages, offering assistance, handling requests, and inquiries and replies, dealing with complaints, understanding and responding to instructions, giving opinions, making suggestions. Participants will be expected to participate in class activities that involve listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
389108 English for Oral Business Communication
This course will help you communicate better in English in business situations that include dealing with overseas visitors: greeting, introducing and socializing.
Topics will include:
(1) starting and controlling a meeting;
(2) discussion techniques;
(3) presenting and supporting opinions;
(4) talking about yourself and your company;
(5) day-to-day work and practical telephone techniques.
Practical work will be included, such as making presentations, debating and discussion. Audio and visual aids are used throughout the course which will give students opportunity to practise their listening skills. Grammar structures will also be covered in class.

5 Duration
Normally students will take 1 to 2 module(s) in each School Term* in order to complete the whole Certificate programme within 1 year.
On the other hand, you may also plan your own study pace as long as you can complete the entire programme within 3 years (starting from the commencement date of the first module you studied).

6 Award
To qualify for the award of Certificate in English Speaking Skills for the Workplace, students are required to:
(1) have an attendance rate of 70% or above in each module; and
(2) have passed the assessments of each module.

All applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
(a) For new applicants:

- Fill in the Enrollment Form for Certificate and Diploma / Professional Proogrammes
- Indicate your payment method for the application fee $150 in Part B (non-refundable)
(2) Choose one or two module(s) to study in the first term:
- Fill in another Enrollment Form for Certificate and Diploma / Professional Proogrammes with your name and the module information only.
For example, you would like to study “English Phonetics,”
- Indicate your payment method for the tuition fee of this module in Part B
- Use a separate form for each module.
(3) Send the above forms with your supporting documents for admissions requirements to:

The school will notify the applicants of the results by mail.
