This course will NOT provide live sessions. Students will learn in distance learning mode through written course materials in conjunction with the Required Textbook*.
Course materials include: 'Course Guide', 'Course Notes', 'Course Assignments' and 'Study Schedule'.
Students are expected to learn through reading the textbook and completing the assignments. Course notes are mainly used to supply background information and guidelines that would help students to read the textbook so as to improve their knowledge and understanding of the Hong Kong Business Law. Feedback from the instructor is an integral part of this course. Students will receive constructive feedback from the instructor after they complete the assignments.

2 Introduction
As the editor Mr D K Srivastava points out “Business law covers a vast segment of legal materials and is ever changing. While old principles and rules are being amended, new ones are being added to cater for the emerging business environment. Business law principles are becoming more technical, if more interesting.”
This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the framework of Hong Kong business law, how it operates and the basic principles upon which our daily lives are based. It identifies the functions of the law and legal relationships in business, and those situations where it is important to obtain professional legal advice. It also examines new developments in Hong Kong law as they affect the business community.
It is hoped that this course will encourage students to think of law as a living subject, not a mysterious body of difficult Latin Rules. Armed with basic legal knowledge, students should be better able to identify and react to legal issues before they become problems.
